I made this swag to go over Tate’s bed using fabric scraps I had, old faded swim trunks and ribbon.

My daughter would kill me if she saw that I put a photo of her picking sand out of her butt online for the world to see… BUT (ha ha) she won’t have internet access until she is at least 33 so I got some time, and she doesn’t mind the photo in her room …yet

Here is a close up, the only purchased items were the pink polkadot ribbon in the swag and the ribbon it’s all tied onto (less than $3.00 for both spools)

The scraps of fabric all came from the leftovers of this bedspread… Jenny and I made it a few years ago (yes, I actually SEWED!)

Now, if you want to make yourself a rag swag garland… go over to Jen’s blog cause I was lazy and didn’t take step by step pictures and she did… Oh, and guess what… my lovely friend is even doing a giveaway for one of these garlands… that post is here – you have until tomorrow to leave her a comment… And one more thing… Jen and I got the original idea from the Nester.

I took a little va-cay… sorry for the lack of posts, you probably think I am just milking my time to that 100th post… I’m not, I just went to Tahoe.

Aaron is in Alaska and I am again without a camera but I did take a picture of this mistreatment in my kitchen.

It’s not the greatest or most lovely thing in the world but I love the fact that I didn’t sew anything and hung it all up there with tacks. It looks way better in person too (doesn’t everything?)

I got the ideas from the Nester’s “Mistreatment 101“.

I am going to participate in this on June 18th 2008

Click on the photo to read more about the tour. Then come back here on the 18th to see my garden…and stop back by Tracey’s on that day to see everyone elses too!

As if I didn’t have enough to do this weekend, Aaron and I decided to do some crafts. Actually, I have to give Aaron all the credit here, it was his idea to finally get these signs made. One for MOMents and one for my laundry room. Here’s what we did:

Step 1. Measure the lettering and cut the board (precut at Lowes) to make two signs.

Step 2. Paint the wood.

For the small plaque, I used Folk Art by Plaid “#954 Fresh Foliage” as a base coat. I then spray painted a top coat of Krylon “Ivy Leaf” on top. and sanded the board to look “weathered”.

On the large board, Aaron used Kilz “Bright White”. All paints were from Wal-Mart.

Step 3. Apply vinyl lettering

Step 4. I tea stained the large Moments plaque with Valspar Translucent Glaze in “Raw Umber” (Lowes)

Here is my plaque in my laundry room…

Or better yet…

And here is the “Sneak Peek” of my backyard for those of you in MOMents who will see it Monday night.

and at night with the lights…

I am trying to get my house all festive for MOMents this coming Monday (Cinco de Mayo!) My friend Michelle Mayo said that she will only come if everyone pronounces Mayo “right” (like mayonnaise)…. her last name. Oh she’s a funny one! Hey Michelle… how’s Stony?

Anyway… I made these little cards to stick out of my pots on the mantle… Oh I can’t wait till that mantle gets painted white!

I took this photo at a rather odd angle because my mirror had smudges on it when I took it head on… Why do I admit these things to y’all? Happy Tuesday!

My World Vision child, Klera just sent us a letter! Well, Mimoza, Klera’s mom did. She writes that they live in a small commune in Albania. They eat mostly vegetables, beans and dairy products. They have a Mediterranean climate and live in a flat valley surrounded by hills. In addition to Klera, Mimoza and her husband also have two sons. The family lives in a small brick house that has 3 rooms. Here is Klera along with her mother’s letter.

We are sending her pictures of our family and a letter this week. Klera looks exactly like Tatum…doesn’t she? AND… Here is Luke in the chair I talked about in my last post…

Freakin groovy huh? The boy loves this chair! Well, I have a really long list of things I should be doing right now and writing this is 11-teenth on the list (meaning it’s not on the list) so I better go check some real things off!

My new bathroom was completed in April 2006 (I think). Anyway, for it’s birthday I bought (her/him?) a new shower curtain. (It was supposed to be a walk-in shower but water found it’s way out onto the floor and the curtain holds in the yummy warmth more) and everyone got their own new, towels. The color scheme was green and yellow and now it is a beachy mix of brown, taupe and blues. Happy 2nd birthday bathroom!

I’m really struggling to keep up with all these holidays that are all at once this year. My poor house is confused. I have a St. Patty’s Day flag outside with my Valentine’s decor still up inside and my Easter pulled out of the attic waiting to go up. It kinda looks like my tag screen exploded all over the house!

Wanna know more about the tag screen? See Jen’s post on it here.  Anyway… I am up to my eyeballs in holiday… I’m not sure it’s a bad thing though 🙂 What are you guys doing with St. P’s and Easter a week apart this year?

~ Em

Here it is folks… lemme show you the before just one more time.

Ok, still have some decorative elements to add, but here is my laundry room now!
drum-roll please…
The picture is kinda dark because there is a lot of light in the room. The wall color is Vintage Map by Martha Stewart… Well, I actually took the Martha paint swatch to Wal-Mart and used the ColorPlace paint because it only takes one coat and is AWESOME paint. I mean what other paint will take one coat over plaster, drywall and joint compound? The Wal-Mart color equivalent is called “Green Acres” – it’s an EXACT match to Martha’s color. I used semi gloss because I like the glossy sheen. I will be sure to show more pictures as I decorate the room more. What a great Valentine’s Day gift!
Well… off to do some laundry!

It’s the last day of January and it’s been a great start to 2008. I need to kick myself into gear and take down my New Years decor… yes you heard me right… I decorated for New Years. MOMents is at my house each month so I like to decorate for each event.. The January one was cancelled – oh well, my house was cute anyway!

I have to paint my new mantle and then I’ll take some pictures of Valentines Day for you.
