Catch Up Day
November 28, 2007 in decorating, holidays | No comments
I wanted to show more pictures of my Christmas decor before my VACATION… yes… VACATION! We are going to Disneyland tomorrow morning. I can’t wait! Today is catch up day, I have homework to do, got to go to the bank, last minute packing of course - but here I am on the computer doing nothing on my list. OH WELL! This is my hearth-mantle-fireplace… whatever word you use… all decorated. I didn’t change the wreath out since the one up there is very fragile and drops flowers just from a sneeze. I never did find those green pots and I just realized there are some carry-on bags for the kids to take on the airplane in there too. I’ll have to put that on my to-do list for today….

I got the tall tree-topper at Wal-Mart for 9 bucks. It is too skinny to fit on the top of my tree, but I think it works here!

Okay… this is my FUNKY side coming out. Here is my retro-fabulous bathroom!

The wreath and little ornaments came from the 2.50 section at Target and the garland over the mirror was last year at Target as well. The funky ornament came from Frames & Fine Things many years ago when I worked there.

I wont be writing till next week. Have a great weekend and I’ll tell you all about Disneyland when we get back!

Tuesday Musings…On Wednesday
November 28, 2007 in decorating, friends, give thanks, holidays | 1 comment
I had this typed up yesterday, then my computer died.
I love how everyone has a theme for each day of their blog. Or at least one day with a theme. Inspiration/Motivation seems to be a common one for people to blog about. When I get inspired I want to share it with my friends and I want to start on my New Years resolution early and stop being so negative. From now on I am going to try and keep my negativity (and road rage) out of this blog. Who wants to hear about me being a you-know-what? I went through a tough year with my divorce but I don’t have to keep the hostility any longer. I am in a wonderful new relationship, my children are thriving and I am finally healing too. My motivation for today was waking up and seeing this cool ornaments that Jen made me hanging on my funky tree. She is my inspiration on a daily basis!

Since it IS Wednesday I have to go work in Tatum’s class now, but I have more to share! Until later…

My Christmas Family Room
November 27, 2007 in decorating, friends, give thanks, holidays | 2 comments
Here are some shots of my family room all decorated. My theme was black, white & green. I already had a red floral couch in there and a little more red snuck in with this tag from my best friend Jen.

This is above my entry table and hangs above the glass jar & such I showed earlier. The next thing you see is my hutch.

Inside my hutch are my favorite green things… my frog collection. I collect weird frog things, not your traditional frogs ~ it goes with my personality ~

Next to my hutch is a weird tree I made out of a persimmon branch. I wanted a separate place for the neat ornaments I got at Wal-Mart and saw this idea in my new Cottage Living magazine. Theirs was more elegant, mine is just kooky - like me. I added pine cones and used-to-be-orange pumpkins.

The mantle is not 100% complete yet… as I was typing this I remembered some lime green pots I bought at the 99 Cent Store… hmmm … where did I put them? I also need some candles… and to light a fire. Look for that picture later. Here is a little part of the mantle decor though. Jen and I got the frame idea off of my new favorite-in-the-whole-wide-world blog A Cottage Industry. I should have taken the “glass” out first so there was no reflection of my camera. I have 7 of these frames with different words in them lined up on my mantle. The frames were at Wal-Mart and used to be black. ~ Jen and I cleaned out the stock at the Lodi and Stockton Wal-Marts so don’t even think about it… really! ~ Oh, you can get the little tree that is in the black candle holder at Wal-Mart also, it was a whopping 89 cents!

Finally the piece-de-I can’t spell that word… THE TREE! It was a family affair; Luke, Tatum and Aaron helped me decorate it while listening to Elvis and The Chipmunks Christmas music.

Well that’s my family room, I’ll post more pictures later of the other rooms and of my fireplace when it is done. I’ll leave you with a picture of our poor bird who we stuck in tiny bird cage to take a picture because she matched my decor…

It’s Christmas Time!
November 26, 2007 in decorating, holidays | 2 comments
Last year’s Christmas was not one I’d like to put in the memory books. I didn’t decorate, I didn’t celebrate and I just get a yucky feeling inside thinking about it.
BUT… THIS YEAR!

Oh this is just a taste… just wait till I get home from work to show you more. I LOVE my family room… or is it living room? Whatever the formal one is - ha ha. I’ll update with more pictures this afternoon!

Kawasaki Christmas
November 21, 2007 in decorating, holidays | No comments
That’s what Aaron is calling my color scheme for this year. I made this wreath last night. If you’ve been to my house at Christmas before you will know this wreath as the former “yee-haw” wreath. It had red, green and blue berries, a red bandanna, boot, hat, saddle and paper raffia lasso. It was professionally done by my dear decorator friend Carole and I think she would be proud at my re-do. I cut off the blue and red berries and revamped it. I don’t see any resemblance to anything Kawasaki… do you?
